Letter From The Publisher
As
we present our third issue of Western & Wildlife Art Magazine, I
would like to thank our readership for your support these past four
months. Your comments and kind words from your emails have provided
inspiration, support and make this project all the more worth while.
Your enthusiasm has shown the level of excitement within the fine
art community that this publication continues to provide artists and
collectors with current first rate information within the industry.
In January 2009 we shall begin publication on the 5th day of the
month of each bi-monthly issue. This specific date will be more
productive with publishing and allow the readership more time to
enjoy each bi-monthly issue.
The fall is a busy time for our industry, decoy and wildlife art
shows are held from California to Washington State on the west
coast; the Chesapeake, New England, and the Carolinas on the eastern
seaboard. The declining economy has affected many Americans and is
changing our way of life as we spend and travel less. In speaking
with show directors and artists, it is clear attendance and sales
are down at most events. Despite the bleak economic forecast there
is a sign of hope as a few shows have reported increased attendance
and sales. This is an example that all is not lost even though hard
financial times are upon us. Show directors must continue to host
their events in order to build success for future years. Artists
must continue to participate at these shows in order to generate
revenue either through a direct sale at the event or through an
introduction that leads to a commission. Working together is the
only way our industry will survive and prosper.
Sincerely,
Christopher J. Gervais
